The living roof
exemplifies the relationship between human and
ecological well-being that is restored through
Tierra’s amenities:
- Rooftop vegetation prevents storm water runoff,
insulates the building, reduces urban
heat-island effect, and provides a natural
habitat.
- Residents enjoy the urban haven of Tierra’s
landscaped roof, where one can entertain
year-round in the spacious sunroom, relax among
the expansive views of the terrace, and
cultivate a garden on a reserved plot of soil.
Following the organic flow of water, the green
roof and green screen capture and filter 100% of
the rainfall on site as it’s transported to
underground storage. Treated water is
recirculated for toilets and other non-potable
usage. The surplus is absorbed into the soil,
recharging the groundwater table as it would on
a naturally vegetated site. This prevents
overflow and contamination of natural water
sources and reduces potable water demand by as
much as 50%. |
